TASS opened in Covington, Louisiana in 2021. Our program provides adults who have acquired brain injuries and with dual diagnosis spinal cord injury, or similar neurological impairments, with programming that is consistent with the individual’s unique needs and current goals. TASS focuses on quality of life issues and offers a wide variety of services to maintain and improve functional skills.


Our philosophy is to empower individuals to achieve full and independent lives in the least restrictive environment possible. Participating in real-life and functional activities, with supervision and assistance as needed, develop each individual’s skills. We strive to nurture the client’s independence and encourage functional abilities.

Suzanne Lentz

Owner / CEO

M.C.D. CCC-SLP


Suzanne S. Lentz, M.C.D, CCC-SLP received her Masters of Communication Disorders from LSU Medical Center in 1992.  Shortly after graduation, she started working as a Speech-Language Pathologist, specializing in individuals with neurologic insults.  She has worked in the field of neurological rehabilitation for over 29 years. In 2011, Suzanne opened her first residential rehabilitation facility for adults with acquired brain injury in Ponchatoula, LA.  In 2019, she opened the one and only facility in Mississippi.  Her latest venture opened in 2021 in Covington, LA.  Suzanne oversees the clinical, and business operations of all three facilities ensuring quality care and comprehensive programming.  The foundation for her success is the client centered approach to the programming provided.  TASS (Ponchatoula and Crystal Spings) has achieved the prestigious CARF Accreditation, the gold standard of care in the industry.    Suzanne is a  founding member of the Brain Injury Association of Louisiana, where she has sat on their board since the organization began in 2005.  She also holds a governor appointed seat on the Louisiana Rehabilitation Council.

Howard T. Katz, M.D.

Medical Director




Howard T. Katz, M.D., serves as Medical Director of TASS Brain Injury Rehabilitation Center in Ponchatoula, LA, Neurologic Rehabilitation Living Center in Covington, LA, and Hammond Place in Hammond, LA. He is also medical director of Southern Healthcare, Mid-South Rehab Services and 360 Total Rehabilitation in MS. He is a native of Memphis, Tennessee and resident of Madison, Mississippi. Dr. Katz received his medical degree from the University of Tennessee Center for the Health Sciences. He completed his residency in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at Tufts New England Medical Center, Boston, Massachusetts. He currently practices in Jackson, MS. 


Dr. Katz is board certified in the field of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, board certified in the Subspecialties of Spinal Cord Injury Medicine and Brain Injury Medicine, and certified by the American Board of Independent Medical Examiners. He enjoys membership with multiple professional associations, some of which include the American Medical Association, American Academy of Home Care Physicians, and the American Congress of Rehabilitation Medicine. He has been the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Brain Injury Association of Mississippi since 1987 when it was founded- a position he is proud to still hold.

Alex Lentz

Director of Business Development

Since graduating from LSU, Alex Lentz has worked in the healthcare field. After getting her degree from Louisiana State University in Business, Alex worked as the Director of Business Development for our Mississippi location. Having grown up in the family business, she knows first hand how to care for those suffering from a brain injury. As Director of TASS Stroke and Brain Injury facility in Covington, Alex brings a special skill set suited perfectly for her new position. 

Tamra Casarez

Director


Tamra is a dedicated healthcare leader with more than 15 years of experience serving individuals with neurological injuries and complex medical needs. As Program Director, she is passionate about creating an environment where patients, families, and staff feel supported, respected, and empowered throughout the rehabilitation journey.

Tamra earned her Bachelor of Business Administration from Houston Baptist University in 2003. Throughout her career, she has led multidisciplinary teams across rehabilitation settings, with a focus on brain injury and stroke recovery. Her experience includes healthcare operations, quality improvement, regulatory compliance, staff education, and program development, always with the goal of improving patient outcomes and delivering compassionate, individualized care.

Tamra believes that healing extends far beyond medical treatment. She is committed to building a culture where every patient is treated with dignity, every family feels heard, and every team member is inspired to provide exceptional care. She is known for her approachable leadership style, her ability to bring people together, and her dedication to creating programs that promote both clinical excellence and meaningful quality of life.
